Theophile has 3 children and lives with his wife in a rural area outside of Musanze town. In addition to his natural medicine work, he's an agronomist, overseeing a large bamboo plantation near his home. He also works with the nearby Red Rocks Campground helping to cultivate herbs for use in the kitchen. Theophile also makes soap, utilizing the herbs he cultivates and the traditional plants found nearby.
The city of Musanze is the capital of the Musanze District in the Northern Province of Rwanda, and lies near the twin lakes of Lake Burera and Lake Ruhondo. It is the gateway city to Volcanoes National Park and the famous Mountain Gorillas. The town itself has a feel of hustle and bustle but a quieter side to explore once you move away from the city center.
Musanze is a district level capital with plenty of amenities. There are a range of restaurants and hotels mainly aimed at visitors to nearby Volcanoes National Park. There is a main bus station there with direct lines to most of the country and a number of banks with ATM's if needed.
